The AIP Protocol

The AIP Protocol gave me life again.  My Anti Inflammatory life is centered around an autoimmune elimination diet that has been specifically designed to help those suffering from autoimmunity determine their food allergies and sensitivities, reverse nutrient deficiencies, balance gut flora, and heal their bodies over the long-term. The protocol, otherwise known as “The Paleo Approach” has been developed  by Dr. Sarah Ballantine.

  The food allowables that do not cause inflammation and the food non-allowables is listed in her book and here on this page.   There is also a list of reintro foods and a way to reintro the non-allowables.   This is a way to find what foods trigger your autoimmune symptoms.

This Elimination Diet

The autoimmune protocol diet  is a stricter version of Paleo eating that eliminates the foods linked with triggering inflammation for those with autoimmune conditions. 

In addition to being a grain free diet, AIP eliminates dairy, legumes, nightshades- tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes, nuts, seeds, eggs, and seed-derived spices and gums-example is carageen gum. 

Introduction of foods are done with caution giving time to see if there any adverse reactions.
